IBgard® is the #1 Gastroenterologist Recommended peppermint oil for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)1. IBgard® is a medical food for the dietary management of IBS. IBgard® helps manage the symptoms† of IBS that include some or all of the following: abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, or bouts of diarrhea interrupted by constipation, urgency and gas.
Each capsule contains 90 mg of ultra purified peppermint oil (l-Menthol: 41.5 mg).
Other ingredients include: microcrystalline cellulose, gelatin, methacrylic acid copolymer, hypromellose, methlycellulose, triethyl citrate, polysorbate 80, FD&C Yellow #5, and FD&C Green #3.
IBgard® is manufactured in the United States under Good Manufacturing Practices with no added fat, sugar, salt, starch, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, lactose, egg, soy, peanuts, shellfish, tree nuts, milk, or fish. Possible allergen conditions cannot be excluded. If there is a serious medical condition, IBgard® is not recommended.
In addition to peppermint oil, each IBgard® serving of two capsules provides approximately 640 mg of fiber and approximately 400 mg of amino acids (from gelatin protein). These are intended to also help normalize the lining of the gut (gut mucosal barrier) and also help normalize the reversible, localized, often temporary, low-grade immune activation.6 The l-Menthol in peppermint oil has anti-inflammatory12, antispasmodic13, visceral analgesic14, carminative (anti-gas)15 and antibacterial properties.16,17

††Based on IBSREST™ (Irritable Bowel Syndrome Reduction Evaluation and Safety Trial), a randomized, placebo-controlled trial in 72 IBS patients. Patients taking IBgard® on a daily and proactive basis experienced a statistically significant reduction versus placebo in the total IBS symptoms score (TISS), including abdominal pain and discomfort, at 24 hours, with continued and expanding benefits at 4 weeks.

In IBSSU36, the real world evidence in over 700,000 estimated users pointed to no pattern of any adverse events (including no pattern of heartburn, a common adverse event seen in older liquid-filled peppermint oil technologies.) https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/in-the-longest-ever-string-of-yearly-surveys-on-gastroenterologists-preferences-for-recommending-products-for-ibs-ibgard-continues-to-widen-its-already-pre-eminent-1-recommended1-status-300898557.html
