Alfamino® Infant is a hypoallergenic amino acid-based formula for infants ages 0-12 months with cow's milk protein allergy, multiple food allergies or malabsorptive conditions. This nutritionally complete formula provides essential nutrients that infants need for growth and development and has a unique fat blend containing medium chain triglycerides (MCT) to facilitate fat absorption.
Alfamino® Infant is manufactured under Nestlé’s high quality standards. This easy-to-digest infant formula is lactose-free and gluten-free. Alfamino® hypoallergenic amino acid-based formulas with unique lipid blends are designed to:
- Minimize the chance of further allergic reactions in a child with Cows' Milk Protein Allergy
- Meets nutritional requirements while managing EoE with an elemental diet
- Provides nutritional support to infants and children with SBS when an amino acid-based formula may be appropriate
- Provides a formula with MCT that is efficiently absorbed to provide a more readily available energy source, especially during times of gastrointestinal compromise
- Promotes adequate growth in healthy infants
- Meets the AAP criteria for hypoallergenicity

Powdered infant formulas are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants or infants who may have immune problems unless directed and supervised by your baby’s doctor.
Important notice: Mothers are encouraged to continue breastfeeding even when their infants have cows’ milk protein allergy, and can seek dietary counseling to help completely remove all sources of cows’ milk protein from their diets.

Alfamino Infant is formulated to meet the macro- and micronutrient requirements to support optimal growth and nutrition of healthy, full-term infants. Premature neonates, including medically compromised premature neonates, have unique nutrient requirements separate from healthy full-term infants and should be evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional. The use of this product in a premature infant is not recommended. The suitability of any formula, including supplementation with modulars, should be addressed by a qualified healthcare professional familiar with the case history of the patient. As with any powdered formula product, use with immune-compromised infants & children is not recommended.
*MCTs do not require traditional fat metabolism and, are therefore more easily absorbed directly into the enterocyte and are transported through the portal vein to the liver. As a result, MCTs are absorbed more rapidly than long chain triglycerides (Bach et al, 1982). Also, MCT oils are valuable in a number of clinical situations because they are digested quickly and less likely to be affected by intestinal factors that inhibit fat absorption (Krause, 2012).
